Near, far, wherever you are, the legacy of James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster film “Titanic” lives on.
To mark the film’s 20th anniversary, Paramount Pictures is releasing a remastered version of the film in theaters around the country for one week in December, including four around Denver.
Beginning Dec. 1, the film will be shown locally at AMC Highlands Ranch 24, AMC Westminster Promenade 24, AMC Arapahoe Crossing 16 (Aurora) and AMC Flatiron Crossing 14 (Broomfield). Tickets go on sale Nov. 15 at 6:30 a.m. via amctheatres.com/titanic.
Tickets purchased come bundled with a digital download of the film “while supplies last” — which doesn’t really make sense because digital commodities are, for all intents and purposes, infinite. But that’s what the press release says.
“Titanic” is one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, and became a cultural phenomenon in the late 1990s. The Dolby Vision remaster of the film was overseen by Cameron himself.
“This is beyond 3D, beyond 70mm, it’s beyond anything you’ve seen before,” Cameron said in a release. “The image leaps off the screen as bright and vibrant as life itself. This is the way all movies should be seen and, without a doubt, ‘Titanic’ has NEVER looked better.”
