Chilly? Celebrate National Hot Toddy Day (Jan. 11) at these 6 Denver spots.

Three reasons to grab a hot toddy this week:

1. Even though it could be a whole lot colder this time of year, it’s not exactly summer out there, and a toddy will warm you up.

2. The hot bourbon and honey combo is a cold and flu cure-all. Or, at least that’s what we choose to believe. Don’t correct us.

3. Jan. 11 is National Hot Toddy Day!

Below, some of our favorite spots to warm up and celebrate this glorious occasion.

BYOHT: Build Your Own Hot Toddy. That’s how they roll at Union Lodge No. 1. Pick your whiskey, add a little (or a lot of) honey, some lime, maybe some fresh mint — it’s all yours to tinker with at the Lodge. 1543 Champa St., Denver, 720-389-0447; unionlodge1.com

The best part of The White Whale Room’s hot toddy, besides the house-made caramel syrup and Dram’s lemon ginger tea? Whenever it snows it sells for just $6. (Normally $8.) 415 S. Cherokee St., Denver, 303-733-0446; chasethewhitewhale.com

If you’re attempting Dry January or you just prefer pancakes to drinks, the Ballpark and Fort Collins Snooze locations will be doing a hot toddy pancake of the day on Jan. 11 and Jan. 17-20. Get ’em while they’re hot, people. 2262 Larimer St., Denver, 303-297-0700 and 144 W. Mountain Ave., Fort Collins, 970-482-9253; snoozeeatery.com

The colder it gets, the more we like these three words: Hot apple toddy. Dunbar Kitchen and Taphouse uses Santa Fe apple brandy, allspice dram, lemon and cinnamon simple syrup to create a nicely spiced, warm-you-up drink. 2844 Welton St., Denver, 720-630-7641; dunbarkitchenandtaphouse.com

For Steuben’s Rock & Rye hot toddy cocktail, whiskey is infused with orange zest and mixed with clove, cassia bark, horehound (it’s a plant) and rock candy. Just the hot, sweet, zippy drink you need right about now, no matter when “now” is.  523 E. 17th Ave., Denver, 303-830-1001 and 7355 Ralston Rd., Arvada, 303-830-0096; steubens.com

Don’t miss Cuba Cuba’s Caribbean twist on the toddy. Instead of bourbon, the Cuban restaurant mixes rum with honey, citrus and hot water. 1173 Delaware St., Denver, 303-605-2822; cubacubacafe.com
