Aspen’s Strafe ski wear designers live their business: “This is what we do every day.”

ASPEN, CO - MARCH 17: Twin brothers Pete, left, and John Gaston, right, are pictured in their store at the base of Aspen Highlands ski area on March 17, 2017 in Aspen, Colorado. The young brothers created the specialized ski mountaineering gear company in Aspen to, as they say, "Make gear that we need". The bothers started the company because of their obsession with Highland Bowl. "Hiking the bowl, ripping down to the lift, and riding up to begin the lap again places unique demands on apparel in terms of breathability, weather, protection, insulation, mobility and storage." They needed apparel that blended breathable, waterproof materials and constructions with snow-specific features and fits for moving efficiently and skiing hard all day. In 2009 they developed their first prototypes and in 2010 had their first product available for sale. The company is inspired by a dedication to living life in the mountains. Photo by Helen H.
