PHOTOS: Animal rescue puts firefighters, puppies on stage for calendar debut party

Fifteen firefighters with puppies in hand took to the Grizzly Rose stage Thursday night during a Firefighter Calendar Debut Party that doubled as a fundraiser for Lifeline Puppy Rescue.

The rescue previously sold calendars with just puppies, but decided to “kick it up a notch” by including the firefighters, calendar project manager Amy VanDerBroek said. Now, the calendars feature shirtless firemen holding the puppies as flames burn behind them. The calendars cost $20 and can be bought online at firerescuedogs.com.

The rescue started in Colorado in 1993 and has saved 38,000 puppies in the west and midwest from euthanasia at city and county kill shelters.
