Denver Film Festival reveals dates, tickets for the 2018 event

With Labor Day in the rearview and festival season in full swing, it’s time for the Denver Film Society to start pumping up cinephiles for the 41st annual Denver Film Festival.

The full schedule for the Oct. 31-Nov. 11 event will not be announced until next month, but tickets are already available in six packs, 15-packs and a Red Carpet Pack — the last of which includes three screenings at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on opening night, Centerpiece night, and closing night (Oct. 31, Nov. 2 and Nov. 10).

Individual tickets to the festival, which takes place at the Sie FilmCenter (2510 E. Colfax Ave.), the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (1385 Curtis St.) and the McNichols Building at Civic Center park, go on sale to Denver Film Society members on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and to the general public on Friday, Oct. 12.

Tickets will be available online at denverfilm.org or the main box office at the Sie FilmCenter.

“As we look at the 41st year of this storied festival, our eye is on the future; how the next generation of films and filmmakers will shape our ever-changing culture and respond to the social and political climate of the world,” said festival director Britta Erickson in a press statement. “We are honored to continue to showcase for Denver audiences the finest in worldwide cinema from a diverse group of filmmakers.”

Getting tickets early might be a good idea this year: Erickson reported a 20 percent increase in ticket sales for the 2017 festival, including many sold-out screenings, with $401,000 in total sales as compared with $302,263 in 2016.

The 41st Denver Film Festival will offer more than 250 titles including local, national and international cinema, industry panels, achievement awards and tributes, and a focus on Hungarian cinema, the Film Society said today.

The full, 12-day festival program will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
