UFC Fight Night, Aaron Lewis and more Denver events on sale this week

It’s not a concert, exactly, but few non-sporting events can fill the Pepsi Center like UFC Fight Night, which returns Nov. 10. Significantly, UFC started in Denver (in 1993 at McNichols Arena) so celebrating its 25th anniversary “with an action-packed card” headlined by Frankie Edgar vs. Chan Sung Jung only feels appropriate. Tickets for the latest UFC Fight Night are on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 and limited to eight per person. ($50-$150, altitudetickets.com)

If you’re still mourning the breakup of U.K. boy-band One Direction, allow us to introduce you to Why Don’t We? The band — composed of five suspiciously good-looking, 17 to 20-year-old, ideal-haired, Instagram-friendly young men — is a breakout pop sensation in the midst of a major tour supporting new release “8 Letters.” The predictably smoky-eyed clan plays an all-ages show at Broomfield’s FirstBank Center on March 27, 2019, with general tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 8. Scream-resistant earplugs are optional. ($39.50-$79.50, axs.com)

Also announced this week for the FirstBank Center: violinist-dancer Lindsey Stirling, whose high-energy performances run circles (and hoops, and leaps) around most stage shows. She’ll headline an all-ages show at the Broomfield venue on Nov. 27, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 14. ($35-$70, altitudetickets.com)

Aaron Lewis, frontman for nü-metal band Staind (remember nü-metal?), is a far more earnest and country-leaning guy than his main band’s punchline-attracting music might imply. He’s pushing a new album, “Sinner,” the follow-up to 2012’s “The Road,” with a tour that brings him to the Fillmore Auditorium on Nov. 16. Tickets for the 16-and-up concert are on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 7. (Tickets prices unavailable, Ticketmaster)

Portland, Ore.-based newgrass band Fruition isn’t afraid of distortion and volume, which makes it a welcome addition to the genre that has tinkered with traditional bluegrass to varying degrees over the last few decades. The band’s Front Range draw is so strong it’s planning a Dec. 28-29 run at the Boulder Theater, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 7. The show also includes Daniel Rodriguez of Colorado’s Elephant Revival. ($25-$30 per day, or $45 2-day passes; bouldertheater.com)

Sensitive and searing in equal measures, indie-rock lifers Cursive have continued preaching to their post-hardcore and emo faithful from their pulpit in Omaha. The band returns with a Jan. 18, 2019 concert at the Bluebird Theater. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 7. ($20-$23, axs.com)

Rising Canadian singer-songwriter Colter Wall is also moving up in the local concert ecosystem with a new show at the Ogden Theatre, scheduled for Feb. 15, 2019. Tickets for the 16-and-up show are on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 14. ($25-$30, axs.com)
