Go green!
Guacamole is a must for your Super Bowl party. (More avocados are sold for the big game than any other time of the year.) This year, save some green by scooping out the cheapest avocados in town. Sprouts Farmers Market and Lucky’s Market are offering avocados for 34 cents each. With no limit, make a super bowl of the dip without breaking the bank. If it’s more convenient in your travels, King Soopers is selling the fruit (yes, it’s a fruit) for 77 cents each. Those wanting organic avocados should expect to pay about $2 each.
Year of the pig
The Year of the Pig begins on Feb. 5, and Chinese New Year celebrations are in full swing. The Outlets at Castle Rock hosts two weeks of Chinese-themed traditions and activities throughout the center. Now through Feb. 9, stop at the customer service desk and say “Happy New Year!” to receive a red envelope containing an $8 gift card good at any of the outlet stores. (The number eight indicates good fortune in China.) Also, Chinese New Year lanterns and decorations will be given to kids 12 and younger. When they turn in their decorated lantern, kids get their own red envelope with a special surprise. On Feb. 9 at 1 p.m., dancers and artists from the Jasmine Flower Dance Academy will perform in the courtyard by Under Armour. outletsatcastlerock.com
