Music of “Thrones”
Friday. It’s time for the Pepsi Center to be transformed into Westeros this weekend when “Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience” brings the fantasy world to live by composer Ramin Djawadi. Some familiar tunes will fill the area as Djawadi leads a live orchestra and scenes on giant screens transport you to the seven kingdoms. It will be colorful. It will be epic. If anything, it gives you a little taste of the HBO hit while fans wait for its final season to premiere. The show starts at 8 p.m. at 1000 Chopper Circle, tickets range from $39.50-$99.50 at altitudetickets.com.
Family fun
Sunday. It’s time to get a Hop, Skip and Jump Start to your week with Children’s Museum Denver Marsico Campus (2121 Children’s Museum Drive). The event will run from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. to get the whole family movin’ and groovin’. The stroller-friendly 5K (9 a.m.) will trace the South Platte River Trail, or little Ninja Warriors can try to Kid Course or Toddler Trot. 5K Registrationis $32 until 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. To sign up day-of will be $38. Registration for the Kid Course, Toddler Trot and Infant Crawl are $16 ahead of time, $20 day-of. Remembering Rembrandt
Starting Sept. 16. The Denver Art Museum is the only venue for the exhibit “Rembrandt: Painter as Printmaker” that will showcase around 100 prints from 1625 to 1665, and it all starts this weekend. So what will you see? According to DAM’s website, “Unforgettable images of biblical, portrait, allegory, still life, landscape, and genre artworks of the time demonstrate the mastery that cemented Rembrandt as one of the greatest artists in history.” The exhibit is included in general admission. This event rocks
Through Sunday. Time to polish up your rock puns, the 51st Annual Denver Gem and Mineral Show is at the Denver Mart Expo Hall, 451 East 58th Ave., Friday through Sunday. More than 150 vendors will showcase and give talks on minerals, fossils, meteorites, gems, beads and more under this year’s theme of Minerals of Mexico. You can also score lapidary equipment because, of course you can. Tickets are $5-$15, hours are as follows: Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. More information at denvermineralshow.com.
Falling
Through Sunday. It may not officially be fall yet, but that’s not stopping Boulder Fall Fest. The family-friendly event anchored on the Pearl Street Mall will include arts, crafts drinks and live music. The libations will flow from locals Avery Brewing Company and Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, food will be sold by Boulder Bowls, Falafel King and Fast Eddie’s Hot Dogs. Prep that wallet, too, because the Firefly Handmade Market will me on hand with more than 100 vendors pedaling home goods, ceramics, skin care, leather goods and more. Fall fest hours: Friday 5-10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. -9 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
