DOG DAYS
WEDNESDAY. One way to make your Wednesday better would be to hang out with a celebrity dachshund. Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund has almost 3 million Facebook followers after documenting his travels around the world and sporting some pretty cool homemade outfits. Besides being a social media influencer, Crusoe is also the author of a New York Times bestselling book. Really. His second book, “Crusoe, The Wordly Weiner Dog,” just went on sale and he will be making an appearance, taking pictures and signing pawtographs at the Barnes & Noble at 960 S. Colorado Blvd. in Denver on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. (Ironically enough, you cannot bring your dog; this event is for humans only.) The event is free, but it is encouraged to buy the book from the store. More information at celebritydachshund.com/2018tour.
TUESDAY. Also in the world of books, ESPN football insider and former Denver Poster Adam Schefter will give a book talk and do a signing for “The Man I Never Met” starting at 7 p.m. at the Aspen Grove Tattered Cover, 7301 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton. The book is the true story about how 9/11 changed the lives of Schefter and his family forever. The event is free and open to the public. More information at tatteredcover.com.
FAMILY FUN
SATURDAY. The magic is back in Lakewood. The Mile High Magicians Society’s “Magic! Beyond Belief!” will return on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. inside the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway. The 13th annual event will blend magic and mystery with nationally recognized magicians. Tickets are $25 at 303-987-7845 or lakewood.org/tickets.
GOING THROUGH CYCLES
SATURDAY. You may have ski season on the brain, but you might want to put that aside for cycling season this weekend. VeloSwap, a giant bike swap and expo, is rolling into town. That means 500 exhibitors will offer thousands of top brands and bottom prices inside the National Western Complex. It means road bikes, mountain bikes, apparel, helmets, books and memorabilia. There will also be cycling arts and crafts, thought we’re not exactly sure what that means. VeloSwap will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National Western Complex, 4655 Humboldt St., Denver. More information at veloswap.com.
Break it down
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. The celebration of international hip-hop dance theater known as the Breakin’ Convention will return to the Buell Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex this weekend for bboys and bgirls of all ages. The event is curated and hosted by U.K. pioneer Jonzi D, and will not only be live on stage, but will also take over the building. It will include dance workshops, graffiti, DJs and freestyle sessions. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show on Saturday and 3 p.m. show on Sunday are $10-$45 at tickets.denvercenter.org. If you’re saving your pennies, on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., the free 303 Jam will include a concert, performances, live DJs, workshops and more. denvercenter.org.
